Situated on Vinh Thuc Island, Móng Cái City, Quang Ninh Province, Vinh Thuc Lighthouse stands as the first maritime beacon when traveling from the North on the beloved S-shaped land!
Vinh Thuc Lighthouse – The Maritime Beacon at the Forefront of the S-shaped Land
Strategically positioned at the linguistic boundary of the sea with neighboring countries and opening up to the rich fishing grounds of the Northeast, Vinh Thuc Island plays a pivotal role. With this position, Vinh Thuc Lighthouse proudly stands as the first maritime beacon on the maritime map of Vietnam.

Lighthouses always play an extremely important role, and the light of the lighthouse at night is also a blessing for those at sea.

Commissioned in 1962, after more than half a century of guiding the way, Vinh Thuc Lighthouse continues to fulfill its crucial mission. The lighthouse shines, creating a safe maritime corridor, assisting ships in navigation, direction, and positioning, while also enforcing sovereign responsibilities over the seas.

From Ngoc Cape to Tra Co in Móng Cái, a swift 10-minute high-speed boat ride will transport travelers to Vinh Thuc Island. On this journey, be captivated by the invigorating scent of the salty sea, the sound of the wind gracefully tearing through the air, and the panoramic views of the refreshing blue sea.

Vinh Thuc Island comprises two communes, Vinh Thuc and Vinh Trung, covering an area of 5,000 hectares with a population of over 4,000 people. The islanders maintain age-old maritime traditions, relying predominantly on fishing, cultivation, and aquaculture.

The path leading to the lighthouse extends nearly 15 km, weaving through forests, ponds, and homes characteristic of coastal living. Before the eyes of the visitors, on one side is the vast sea, on the other is the steep mountain slope, and in the distance atop Mount Dau Tan lies the Vinh Thuc Lighthouse.

The lighthouse is under the management of the Northeast Maritime Safety Company and boasts a French vintage architectural style, consisting of two distinct yet harmoniously combined structures. The supporting structure below, with curved roofs connected to the base of the tower via a short corridor, complements the white cylindrical tower above.

The supporting structure features curved roofs connecting to the base of the tower via a short corridor. The lighthouse stands at a height of 18m from the base to the top of the light tower, and from the sea surface to the top of the tower is 86m.

With a focal height of 84.5m, during the night, the lighthouse emits a single-cycle white flash every 5 seconds, casting light in a 360-degree radius with an effective range of 21 nautical miles.

Standing atop the lighthouse tower, travelers gaze upon the expansive seascape. On one side lies Dong Beach, on the other is Sa Vi Cape, the northernmost point – where the sacred homeland begins.

Visiting Vinh Thuc Lighthouse, tourists embark not only on a journey to a beautiful destination but also towards their homeland, witnessing the vibrant coastal border. The scattered sea lights across Vietnam's coastline stand as resilient markers affirming national border sovereignty.
