Uncle Ho operated in various countries. Despite only spending a short time in Thailand, Nakhon Phanom province has inaugurated a memorial site for President Ho Chi Minh to commemorate a great figure.
Visit Thailand to explore the memorial site of President Ho Chi Minh in Nakhon Phanom.

Located not far from the provincial capital of Nakhon Phanom, about a 20-minute tuk-tuk ride, visitors can easily reach the memorial site of President Ho Chi Minh in the Thai-Vietnamese Friendship Village.

The memorial site in Nachok Village (Bản Mạy), Nakhon Phanom Province, is a historical relic of Uncle Ho in Thailand, inaugurated on the occasion of the 126th anniversary of His birth. It is also considered a symbol of the Vietnam - Thailand friendship.

Nakhon Phanom Province is about 800km from the capital Bangkok. President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked here in the years 1928-1930. In July 1928, with a passport under the name Nguyen Lai, a overseas Chinese, He set foot in Bangkok. Around early 1929, Uncle Ho came to Sakon Nakhon, and by the end of October, He left Sakon Nakhon Province for Nakhon Phanom Province.

Bản Mạy Village, also known as Nà Thoọc (Nachok), served as Uncle Ho's longest-operating base during his stay in Nakhon Phanom. It was here that Uncle Ho spearheaded significant initiatives of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Youth Association. Nachok Village also preserves artifacts, traces of trees personally planted by Uncle Ho, and cherished memories and humble images of him.

Local residents have long regarded Nachok Village as a historic landmark in the fraternal relations between Thailand and Vietnam. On February 21, 2004, the 'Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Village' was inaugurated here. Within this friendship village, an exhibition hall showcasing President Ho Chi Minh and the friendship between Thailand and Vietnam was constructed.

On May 19, 2016, the memorial complex dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh was inaugurated, comprising 12 sections, including a memorial house built in traditional Vietnamese architecture. Additionally, three museum areas were built to exhibit artifacts and memorabilia, along with a lotus pond, a fish pond, and an artificial mountain.

After offering incense and paying respects at the historic site, visitors will arrive at the Thai-Vietnamese Friendship Village, where a museum exhibits artifacts and paintings, as well as books and newspapers about Uncle Ho's life and activities.

At the entrance to the memorial complex dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh are two coconut trees planted by Uncle Ho in 1928, now standing over 30m tall. On either side of the house's entrance are hedges of plum mango trees interspersed with areca palms, evoking the atmosphere of Vietnam's homeland. Further inside, visitors will encounter an 80-year-old persimmon tree planted by Uncle Ho, providing shade all year round.

This is not just a place where tourists and overseas Vietnamese remember Uncle Ho during special holidays and Tet festivals, but also a significant historical and cultural site symbolizing the enduring friendly relationship between the two countries.
