At this cafe, patrons will discover a special charm absent in renowned Starbucks establishments. Here, enjoy a cup of coffee with your preferred flavor while observing the playful wild cats.
Wild cat cafes have been a trend in Japan for a long time and gained popularity worldwide since the first cafe opened in Taiwan in 1998.
Nekokaigi Cat Cafe, founded by Ms. Mayuko Horii in 2008, serves as the home to 13 stray cats. It is the initial cat cafe in the historic city of Kyoto, Japan.
For approximately 800 yen (over 160,000 VND), customers get an hour to relish coffee and engage with the 13 endearing cats—watch them play, chase each other, or simply unwind somewhere in the cafe. Additional playtime costs around 400 yen for each extra half-hour.
Ms. Horii also enforces rules to ensure the best life for her cats, such as not permitting children under 13 into the cafe, forbidding customers from disturbing sleeping cats, and not selling cats to patrons.
