The grander aim of VUI is to foster a playground, a creative community: filmmaking, photography, design, culture... all converging to marvel at the fruits of our labor.
VUI Studio Hanoi - an innovative space for the youth to revel in
I visited VUI Studio on a weekday. The two-story house at 3c Tong Duy Tan Street (Hoan Kiem, Hanoi) looks distinctly different from the rest of this vibrant street. From the reserved parking attendant to the 'VUI' sign at the entrance, everything exudes a certain charm that leaves you both curious and intrigued.

Before encountering the lively and fascinating individuals at VUI Studio, I had thought to myself, 'Well, it's just another studio like any other, cluttered with machinery, lights, and backdrops... what's the big deal?' That's why I was taken aback when I pushed the wooden door open and entered VUI. It's a space so unique and special that I've never encountered anything like it in Hanoi. This studio defies my preconceived notions. Feeling a tad embarrassed for my narrow understanding, I quickly reinvigorated my spirit to explore VUI - a name that already sounds anything but dull.
The entire house remains unpainted, both inside and out, with only the characteristic gray of raw plaster. Even the floor follows suit! However, don't think gray here is dull and monotonous. The lighting system is meticulously arranged and installed, incredibly efficient. The white light mixed with a hint of gentle yellow creates a space that is both spacious and airy, warm and inviting.

VUI Studio is divided into 2 floors. The first floor resembles a cozy café, offering a variety of familiar drinks and a special menu for those who enjoy trying new dishes. Part of the space is used to display and sell products made by VUI itself or in collaboration with other brands. You can enjoy a refreshing peach tea while browsing through the creative products showcased here, without necessarily having to sit still – although the tables and chairs are arranged quite nicely and reasonably. There's a small loft inside, and if you plan to sit there, remember to take off your shoes.

On the second floor, there's a quite unique room, serving as both a movie theater and a venue for themed music sessions or live bands. When I visited, VUI was renovating the room to provide the best experience for visitors. Another room is dedicated to young people who prefer tranquility, needing a place to concentrate on work. The outdoor space on the balcony is also suitable for those who enjoy reading under natural light.

Although only open for a month, VUI has already attracted many young people here to meet, chat, and of course, take some 'Instagram-worthy' photos.

It can be said that in Hanoi, VUI Studio is the first place to achieve such an interesting and meaningful endeavor. The grander aim that VUI aims for is to create a playground, a creative community: filmmaking, photography, design, culture... all coming together to exchange knowledge and admire the results.
When you visit VUI, you cannot help but bring along a lively spirit. There are so many exciting and interesting things waiting for you to explore!
