Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew - Unique temple made from multiple beer bottles
Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew is a temple located in Khun Han city, widely known and desired by many to visit at least once in their lifetime. Here, tourists can admire the unique architecture made from bottles, experiencing the friendliness and freshness from the bottle material.

The idea to build this unique temple began with the monks in Sisaket province, believing that using this new type of material is a perfect solution, being environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and capable of creating a one-of-a-kind architecture that impresses visitors. However, it took 25 years for the monks to mobilize enough local people and government support to collect bottle caps for the temple. By 1980, with nearly a million beer bottle caps collected, they began the complex construction work with this innovative architecture. They skillfully combined two colors, the green of Heineken beer bottle caps and the brown of Chang beer bottle caps, harmoniously creating a serene, tranquil atmosphere for the Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew temple.

Thanks to the unique idea along with the religious belief that those who come to the temple will be safe and relieved of worries, thousands of tourists have gathered here for worship and sightseeing since the completion of the temple. This is considered evidence of the limitless hard work and creativity of the Thai people.

The highlight of the temple is the Buddha statue made of beer bottles. During the construction process, they achieved a complex of 20 buildings including the main hall, prayer rooms, a tower, crematorium, guest baths, and much more...

With its uniqueness and charm, the temple continues to maintain its impressive beauty, becoming a key attraction for tourists in the Southeast Asia and Asian regions.
