WBG's Chairman stirs up controversy once again by suggesting the team's fans should not set their sights on the championship.
At the current moment, LPL Summer 2022 has only just kicked off a few days ago, and it can be said that no team has emerged as a convincing candidate for the title. Even Top Esports stumbled in their opening match, while Weibo Gaming and EDward Gaming also haven't played exceptionally well. In reality, if this result belonged to a different team, like TES for example, it might not be heavily criticized. But for WBG, the loss to EDG exposed many of their weaknesses. Recently, an incident involving SofM and WBG teammates occurred, continuing to stir controversy within the team's fan community. The team's owner unexpectedly made a post causing controversy on the Weibo social media platform.
With WBG's morale not in a good state, the team's Chairman speaking out in this way has truly angered many fans. Immediately, a series of opposing opinions to the Chairman's 'talk without fighting' behavior appeared beneath the controversial post. To the point where the Chairman had to delete that controversial post.
Shortly after the previous post, the Chairman posted again, causing even more outrage. Specifically, in the new post, he took 'credit' while expressing indifference to WBG fan opinions:
'I never claim to be the boss; it's what you (fans) call me. We need to provide food and clothing for the players. We need to know if they eat well and sleep soundly. We have more important things to worry about than fan opinions. Every time we lose, fans criticize the entire team. People say the team lacks quality, lacks structure. It doesn't matter because I'm the boss, and I don't see any problem.'
This truly infuriates the WBG fan community. Not only is there a lack of respect for fans, but the Chairman also fails to show support for the players. Furthermore, he takes a 'credit' attitude when mentioning the obvious responsibilities of a team owner.
LPL Summer 2022 has just begun, but storms have already hit WBG. Without genuine efforts, SofM and teammates could face an outcome worse than Spring 2022, especially when fan patience has reached its limit.
