(Homeland) - WBG has recently made its presence known in the Semifinals of Worlds 2023 after defeating NRG from the LCS.
In the Quarterfinals of the 2023 World Championship, Weibo Gaming (WBG), the sole LPL team not facing an LCK representative, faced off against LCS contender NRG and convincingly secured a 3-0 victory to advance to the Semifinals. It's a remarkable achievement for WBG in their debut at the World Championship.

Following the conclusion of the first Quarterfinal, WBG's Support player, Crisp, unexpectedly taunts an LCK team, specifically targeting KT Rolster (KT) and expressing doubt about their performance compared to WBG. Perhaps Crisp still carries the memory of their defeat to KT in the Swiss rounds, prompting such remarks.
“In the Swiss rounds, we did experience defeats against G2 Esports and KT. Despite having opportunities for victory, the team couldn't capitalize. Nevertheless, I want to highlight that WBG has achieved better results than both G2 and KT in this World Championship” - Crisp shares after the Quarterfinal.

Crisp's remarks seem to hint that KT might struggle to advance beyond the Quarterfinals of Worlds 2023. Meanwhile, G2 Esports has been eliminated and cannot surpass WBG's performance in this year's Worlds. KT's upcoming opponent, JD Gaming (JDG), is regarded as the strongest team globally at the moment, making KT's chances of victory appear quite slim.
A quite intriguing aspect between WBG and KT lies in their journeys at Worlds 2023, which seem to be entirely opposite. For WBG, they conquered three Western teams, NRG, MAD Lions, and Fnatic, to advance from the Swiss rounds. Notably, they only had to face an LCS representative, NRG, in the Quarterfinals.

On the contrary, KT faced representatives from LCK and LPL in the Swiss rounds, facing considerable challenges to secure a spot in the Quarterfinals. Unluckily, they are set to confront the formidable JDG, currently on the quest for the 'Grand Slam' title in the upcoming match. Therefore, WBG's entry into the Semifinals of Worlds appears relatively smooth, while this seems nearly impossible for KT.

Perhaps that's why player Crisp has recently taunted KT, suggesting they won't match WBG's performance in this year's Worlds. For KT, it's certain that they will need to exert significant efforts in the upcoming period to have a chance at reaching the Semifinals, similar to WBG's achievement, proving Crisp's statement wrong.
