Phu Ninh Lake (Quang Nam) reveals its lush green sandbars this season, with distant clusters of islands adorned with beautiful green pine trees.
Weekend Escape: Discovering Phu Ninh Lake in Low Tide Season

Phu Ninh Lake is an artificial reservoir located about 7 km west of Tam Ky City, Quang Nam Province, within Nui Thanh and Phu Ninh districts. It is approximately 70 km from Da Nang City. Phu Ninh Lake used to be the largest irrigation work in Central Vietnam.

During these days of prolonged drought, the water level of the lake is decreasing, revealing beautiful sandbanks. Rock formations emerge everywhere in the lake under the golden afternoon sunlight, creating a picturesque scene. The islands floating on the lake have lush green pine forests casting shadows on the water surface.

According to data from the Quang Nam Provincial Forest Protection Department (in 2000), the protective forest area of Phu Ninh covers 15,768 ha, including 1,500 ha of planted forest. There are about 30 small islands within the lake with beautiful landscapes being developed for tourism. The total protected area of Phu Ninh Lake is 23,409 ha.
The conservation forest area harbors 34 species of mammals, 26 reptile species, and 14 types of amphibians recorded in the Vietnam Red Book. It is a sanctuary for hundreds of rare plants and medicinal herbs, hosting a diverse ecosystem. Particularly, on Phu Ninh Lake, there is a monkey island with dozens of monkeys inhabiting it.
Amidst the lake lies a natural mineral water source with high mineral content, known for its healing properties. This eco-tourism area features rows of hotels nestled under the lush green pine trees.
