Mê Linh District has initiated plans for its inaugural Flower Festival. The flower gardens are currently undergoing final nurturing stages.
In order to promote the capital's floral brand to various locales, and in light of being recognized as a special national heritage tourist destination alongside Hai Bà Trưng, Mê Linh District is set to organize a Flower Festival over 3 days from 9-11/12.
Mê Linh District has prepared 12 thematic modules to embellish the flower-lined pathway leading to the Hai Bà Trưng temple, adorned with over 1000 pots of flowers serving the event.
Among them, 60% comprise roses, the flagship flower of Mê Linh.
Besides, there are other flower varieties such as chrysanthemums, orchids, sunflowers... Most households cultivating flowers in the district are ready and enthusiastic to participate in the Flower Festival, with the hope of promoting the floral brand of Mê Linh, one of the two major floral hubs of the capital, to international visitors.
Mr. Nguyễn Trọng Phan, Head of the Economic Department of Mê Linh district, stated: “Alongside the district's receipt of the Third-Class Labor Medal, the recognition ceremony for the Special National Heritage Site Hai Bà Trưng temple as a tourist destination, the district is organizing a series of activities, with the highlight being the Mê Linh Flower Festival themed 'Mê Linh in full bloom' with active participation from local flower growers.”
“Through training sessions on scientific and technical conversion with flower-growing households, the Economic Department, as the advisory body, has cooperated with relevant departments and agencies to disseminate, mobilize, and guide households in applying scientific and technical methods in caring for flowers as well as boosting the supply chain for the market,” Mr. Phan added.
Dang Chu Dong (Xuan Thuy Flower Garden) shares: “This year, we encountered more difficulties in growing roses due to unfavorable weather conditions. Firstly, there was less rainfall and more dew this year. Secondly, with the festival being organized for the first time in our district, we had to put in extra effort to ensure the flowers are well-maintained and beautiful…
This is the first time our district has organized a flower festival, so we are very excited. The community has come together and prepared for months with the desire to create a vibrant festival. We hope to attract many locals and visitors to join Mê Linh's rose festival, which will also promote our local flower cultivation.” Owner of Xuan Thuy Flower Garden, participating in the Mê Linh flower festival, further added.
Lan Anh (Ha Loi, Mê Linh, Hanoi) shares: “This is the first time I've seen our district organize a flower festival. Apart from the Hai Ba Trung temple festival, I've never seen such a large and bustling event before. On the main day of the festival, I will invite friends and family to come and enjoy the beautiful flowers at the festival.”
On this occasion, Mê Linh district also proudly received the recognition of achieving new rural standards, being awarded the Third-class Labor Medal, and the ceremony acknowledging the Hai Ba Trung temple as a special national monument and tourist destination.
Mê Linh district is one of the two largest 'flower capitals' of the capital city, and with this flower festival, both the district leadership and residents aim to stimulate the economy and promote local specialties.
