As of late 2018, the entrance exam plan for 10th-grade high school in Hanoi has changed, increasing from 2 to 4 subjects for the 10th-grade high school entrance exam, with the 4th subject for the 10th-grade high school entrance exam to be officially announced by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training in March 2019. So, what are the 4 subjects for the 2019 high school entrance exam?
The 4th subject for 10th-grade in Hanoi is History.
On the morning of March 11th, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the official notification of the entrance exams for public 10th-grade high schools for the upcoming academic year 2019 - 2020. According to the document, the entrance exam for 10th grade will consist of 4 subjects: Mathematics, Foreign Language, Literature, and History, taking place on June 3rd and June 4th.
For the Foreign Language exam, 9th-grade students can choose one of three languages to take the exam: Japanese, French, or English. Particularly, candidates have the right to register for other foreign languages that are not taught in the middle school curriculum. The format of the Foreign Language exam combines essay and objective multiple-choice questions with a duration of 60 minutes. The multiple-choice section of the Foreign Language exam will have different test codes to ensure the following principles:
- Two candidates sitting next to each other will have different test codes.
- Candidates will answer on the multiple-choice answer sheet, and the results will be scored by computer software.
Both the Mathematics and Literature exams are conducted in essay format with a duration of 120 minutes (2 hours).
The exam questions are based on the middle school curriculum set forth by the Ministry of Education and Training and primarily cover the 9th-grade syllabus.
The Mathematics and Literature exams will consist of 4 levels: recognition, comprehension, basic knowledge, and advanced.
The Foreign Language and History exams will include levels of recognition, comprehension, and a few low-level application questions.
