The game developer, HoYoverse, has implemented various improvements in Genshin Impact to enhance the gaming experience over time.
1. Introduction of the Dendro Element

Genshin Impact's combat system relies on elemental reactions with 7 existing elements. The Dendro Element, introduced from the beginning, initially only interacted with the Pyro Element, and no characters possessed this element.
With the arrival of the Sumeru Region, new Dendro characters, and elemental reactions, the Dendro Element has been fully incorporated. This addition has significantly improved game balance, empowering characters previously considered weak, such as Keqing, through enhanced elemental interactions.
2. Addition of Costumes

Character outfits have become quite popular in contemporary gacha games, enhancing the visual appeal for players. Many Genshin Impact fans wished for this feature from the beginning, and it was only introduced in version 1.6.
Another thing that delighted many fans is the game's generosity in providing numerous free costumes for players. Simply by participating in events with each update, players can receive complimentary outfits for their 4-star characters.
3. Controversial Power Adjustment of Zhongli
Currently, Zhongli holds the title of the strongest shield-bearing character in Genshin Impact. However, many are unaware of the controversy surrounding this. Upon his initial release, Zhongli's shield and Geo abilities were significantly weaker than they are now. This dissatisfaction arose as Zhongli, representing a nation, initially lacked power proportional to that expectation.
After being reworked, Zhongli has acquired the strength to be considered one of the most powerful characters in the game. His formidable shield allows players to confront bosses without dodging. To this day, Zhongli remains the only character in Genshin Impact to receive a power buff shortly after release.
4. Companion Events

Low-tier gacha characters often get overlooked, but in Genshin Impact, it's a different tale. 4-star characters not only hold their own but are intricately designed with suitable personalities to build their stories. However, players remain unaware of these characters until the game introduces companion events.
If 5-star characters have legendary quests, 4-star characters have their own stories through companion events. Players can choose which character they want to bond with, and notably, there are multiple outcomes for each character's story. Upon completion, players receive Primogems and charming illustrations as memorable keepsakes from their journey with the characters.
5. Unreconciled Stars Event

Long-time Genshin Impact players expressed a lack of endgame content after completing the main story and missions. Beyond the Spiral Abyss, there wasn't much to engage in. Therefore, the developers introduced the Unreconciled Stars Event, a card-based game featuring characters from the Genshin Impact world.
With gameplay combining cards, elemental reactions, and a dice system, Unreconciled Stars proved to be an enticing addition. This provided long-term player engagement as it offered a multiplayer interactive experience rather than a solo endeavor.
6. Divine Exchange

One of the significant and cumbersome aspects of Genshin Impact is the Artifact Set system. Players spend a considerable amount of time grinding for equipment, as everything is entirely random, requiring time and luck to obtain desired pieces. Therefore, Hoyoverse's solution is to introduce the Divine Exchange system, helping players save time acquiring suitable artifacts.
The Divine Exchange is essentially a barter system where players exchange 3 old Artifact Set pieces for a new random one. Currently, players can choose from 14 different Divine Exchanges, and this number will continue to expand in future updates.
