After much anticipation from fans, Xiaomi's 2022 flagship trio has emerged, including: Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro (the premium version), and Xiaomi 12X (the simplified version). Alongside these main characters, another product that is attracting consumer interest is the Xiaomi 12 Ultra.
So, how much does the Xiaomi 12 Ultra phone cost? And what noteworthy upgrades does it bring compared to its predecessor? Let's explore and find our answer.
1. When will the Xiaomi 12 Ultra phone be launched?
Although the flagship devices of the Xiaomi 12 series have been officially introduced, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra version has yet to be released. According to information from China, the launch date of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra could possibly be in March 2022 – similar to how the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra was unveiled in March 2021.
However, there are also reports suggesting that Xiaomi 12 Ultra will never see the light of day.
The reason is that Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi 12 series in December 2021 with model numbers L3 for Xiaomi 12 and L2 for Xiaomi 12 Pro. Meanwhile, L1 belongs to the Xiaomi Mi Mix 5 Pro, another high-end phone soon to be released, while L1A will be used for the upcoming standard Mi Mix 5.
Reports reveal that the higher the number along with the letter 'L,' the higher it is in the list. This means that L2, belonging to the Xiaomi 12 Pro, will be the most powerful phone in the Xiaomi 12 series. Instead of being allocated to the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, L1 will be used for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 5 Pro – another powerful high-end phone set to be released.
However, these are just speculations; the official launch date of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra is still pending a decision from the Chinese manufacturer, as well as whether or not this phone will be released.
2. What is the price of Xiaomi 12 Ultra phone?
Expected to be the highest-end flagship of Xiaomi in 2022, the price of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra phone will not be cheap. Currently, the prices of phones in the Xiaomi 12 series are already quite high.
– Xiaomi 12: starting from 13.2 million dong
– Xiaomi 12 Pro: starting from 16.8 million dong
– Xiaomi 12X: starting from 12 million dong
The above prices are for the Chinese market as Xiaomi 12 has not been officially distributed in Vietnam yet. It is expected that the selling price in Vietnam will be 2-3 million dong higher than the price in China.
Therefore, the expected selling price of Xiaomi 12 Ultra will be around 20-22 million dong – in the top-tier high-end segment in the market – equivalent to flagships from Samsung, Apple, and others.

3.1 Camera of Xiaomi 12 Ultra may 'disappoint'
According to the latest information shared by leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo – a popular social network in China, Xiaomi 12 Ultra will use the same main camera cluster as its predecessor Xiaomi 11 Ultra.
Specifically, the Mi 11 Ultra is currently equipped with three cameras on the rear, including the main sensor Samsung ISOCELL GN2 50MP with a size of 1/1.12 inch and aperture f/1.95. It also has a 48MP ultra-wide lens with a 128° field of view and aperture f/2.2. Additionally, there is a 48MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and 10x hybrid zoom on the Mi 11 Ultra.
However, not completely the same but the camera modules on the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will be redesigned, bringing more impressive photo quality for users.
3.2 Massive battery, super-fast charging
According to leaked information, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra generation will be equipped with a whopping 5000 mAh battery, accompanied by HyperCharge 200W super-fast charging technology. This is sure to please many users as OPPO has also introduced 120W fast charging technology in the current market.
3.3 144 Hz Display
It is expected that Xiaomi will equip its highest-end flagship with a 6.81-inch display with a 2K+ resolution (1,440 x 3,200 pixels). Not only that, but this display will also have a refresh rate of 144Hz instead of just 120Hz like current flagships.
3.4 Unmatched Configuration
The Xiaomi 12 generation has been equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip – the most powerful on the current market. Therefore, it is expected that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will still use this chip, but it will be upgraded in terms of RAM memory, making the device even more capable of multitasking.
