About Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang
Before delving into the Huynh Thuc Khang Memorial House, we need to know who Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang is? What contributions has he made to the country? Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang was born in 1876 in Thanh Binh village, Ha Dong district, Thang Binh prefecture (now Tien Phuoc district, Quang Nam province). He was a prominent revolutionary with a doctorate degree obtained in 1904.

After obtaining his doctorate, he became a leader of the Duy Tan movement in the Central region in 1908. Some time later, he was exiled by the French colonialists to Con Dao for 13 years. In 1926, he was elected as a deputy with the position of Director of the Central Assembly.
Revolutionary Activities of Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang
Throughout his 3-year tenure in the Central Assembly, he steadfastly fought on the parliamentary stage against the French Resident Superior. Eventually, he resigned from his position.
In 1927, Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang established the People's Voice newspaper printing factory. During this period, he served as the editor-in-chief in Hue until 1943 when the newspaper was completely shut down.
After the August Revolution in 1945, Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang was appointed Minister of the Interior. In 1946, when President Ho Chi Minh went to France for negotiations, Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang was nominated for the position of President of Vietnam.
A year later, Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang passed away in Quang Ngai during his inspection tour of the Central region. According to his will, he wanted to be buried at the peak of Thien An Mountain - the foremost famous landmark of Quang Ngai province.
Even though he has departed, the talent, morality, and patriotism of Mr. Huynh are still praised and beloved by people. The people of Quang Nam often affectionately refer to him as Grandfather Huynh.
On December 27, 2021, to express gratitude and affirm Mr. Huynh's contributions to the homeland, the President awarded him the prestigious Golden Star Medal.
On December 21, 1990, the Huynh Thuc Khang Memorial House was officially recognized as a national cultural relic by the Ministry of Culture - Information.

Huynh Thuc Khang Memorial House is located on provincial road 616, in Tien Canh commune, Tien Phuoc district, Quang Nam province. It is only about 35km southwest of Tam Ky city.

Huynh Thuc Khang Memorial House is situated within a spacious compound of approximately 4000m2 in Tien Phuoc district. This house was built by Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang's father in 1896. Constructed in a classical three-section architectural style on a 90m2 area, the house offers a cool and shaded environment with lush greenery. In front of the house is an endless paddy field, with majestic mountain slopes.
From the outside, Mr. Huynh's memorial house may appear similar to others. However, the path leading to the house is intricately paved with winding bricks. Along the pathway are towering betel nut trees intermingled with rows of green tea plants, creating a refreshing and pleasant ambiance.

The memorial house - a place preserving documents about Mr. Huynh's life
Inspired by the distinctive architecture of Quang Nam, the house is meticulously designed with exquisite details. Most notably, the intricately carved wooden frames made of jackfruit wood by the skilled hands of artisans from Kim Bong carpentry village in Hoi An.
The main hall is where ancestors and Mr. Huynh are worshiped. Mr. Huynh's altar is set lower than the ancestors' altar with two meticulously carved couplets. This is a special gift given by his students when he obtained his doctorate degree. On the right side of the house is the family's bedroom, and on the left is the family's dining room.
Not only a place preserving documents about Mr. Huynh's life, but Huynh Thuc Khang Memorial House also serves as a conservation site for Mr. Huynh's workspace during his lifetime. Inside the house, there is also an exhibition area displaying artifacts related to Mr. Huynh's life. Examples include glasses, boxes, clocks, a pair of shoes, and the People's Voice newspaper.

Currently, the house is taken care of by Mr. Huynh Van Thoan - Mr. Huynh's nephew. Mr. Thoan stated that the memorial site welcomes over a thousand tourists from both domestic and international destinations each year for worship and sightseeing.
