In the smart home devices race today, Amazon is a highly proactive manufacturer, consistently unveiling new products with unique features. And recently, Amazon has also introduced the new Alexa Greetings feature on its devices. So what exactly is Alexa Greetings, and what features does it offer? Follow the article to find out!
1. What is Alexa Greetings?
Alexa Greetings is a feature equipped on smart doorbell devices within the Amazon Alexa smart home ecosystem. This feature enables the virtual assistant Alexa to greet visitors to your home. Of course, to use Alexa Greetings, your device needs to be continuously connected to the Internet, and you can turn it on/off using the Ring app on your phone.
However, to utilize this feature, you'll need to pay an additional $3 per month (approximately 70,000 VND) in the Ring Protect package, and currently (as of 07/03/2021), the service is only available in the US market.
2. Key Features of Alexa Greetings
Currently, Alexa Greetings will be able to handle two types of situations, specifically as follows:
- Assisting in communicating with delivery personnel
Amazon's smart doorbell can communicate with delivery personnel after they ring the bell. Specifically, Alexa will guide them on where to place the package if no one is home.

- Recording messages from visitors
In case visitors cannot reach anyone at your home, Alexa will inquire and record their messages. The videos will be labeled as Alexa Greetings, and you can review them on the Ring app.

If Alexa fails to identify either of the two aforementioned scenarios, this virtual assistant will apologize to the visitor for being unable to assist.
3. Supported Devices for Alexa Greetings
The Alexa Greetings feature supports Ring Video Doorbell Pro devices from 2017 onwards (Amazon's line of smart doorbell devices). Alternatively, you can flip over your Ring Video Doorbell Pro and check the serial number section on the back. If they have the codes BHL2 or BHL3, it means your device is supported. However, if it's BHL1, unfortunately, Alexa Greetings is not supported yet due to hardware limitations.
