History of Langbiang Plateau in Dalat
Have you ever wondered about the origin of the name Langbiang? Is there a historical story behind this name? Let's find out with Mytour!
History and Legendary Love Stories of Langbiang
The name Langbiang originates from the legendary love story of K’lang and H’biang according to the folklore of the K’Ho ethnic group.
Legend has it that their love blossomed when they met by chance while gathering fruits in the forest. K’lang rescued H’biang from a pack of wolves, and they admired and fell in love with each other.
However, their love story faced opposition because they came from different tribes. Despite societal norms, they remained determined to be together and moved to live on the mountain peak. Later, when H’biang fell ill, K’lang tried everything to cure her but failed, so he went down the mountain to seek medicine from the village to save his wife's life.
Despite their efforts, societal customs and strict religious rituals prevented their union. Eventually, their beautiful love story ended with the departure of both. H’biang died while shielding her husband from an arrow, and grief-stricken, K’lang followed shortly after. It is said that K’lang's tears formed a large stream called Đa Nhim – the weeping stream.
The deaths of the two lovers led Biang's father to regret his actions, and he unified the tribes into a new tribe called K’Ho. The tall mountain where the two lovers passed away was named Langbiang in memory of their faithful love. Two symbolic statues of the couple are still preserved there.

It is also believed that over time, the graves of the two lovers turned into two adjacent mountains called Ong Mountain and Ba Mountain, as a testament to their beautiful love story.
