Error 1: Keyboard Not Found
When disassembling the computer for cleaning or repair, if the user doesn't plug the keyboard tightly, upon starting up the computer, an error message will appear stating 'Keyboard not found' (as shown below). This error often occurs with desktop computers using PS/2 ports and older motherboards.
How to fix: Remove the keyboard cable and firmly plug it into the motherboard. If you still encounter a mouse not found error, check the connection between the keyboard cable and the motherboard for any bends. If there are any, gently straighten them using a small steel rod (or even pliers). Be extremely gentle to avoid breaking the connector.
Error 2: CMOS Battery Depleted
When booting into Windows and receiving a 'CMOS checksum error' message with a prompt to press F1 to continue (to Windows) or F2/Delete to reset the time in BIOS, adjusting the time won't resolve the issue. In this case, it's highly likely that the CMOS battery has died.
How to fix: Simply replace the CMOS battery, and your computer will function normally again. The cost of a CMOS battery is not expensive, ranging from 7 to 15 thousand Vietnamese dong depending on the type.
Error 3: Hard Drive Encounters Bad Sectors
With prolonged use, hard drives are prone to developing bad sectors. If the issue is minor, Windows may still run but with significant slowness and frequent display of “Windows detected a hard disk problem” errors. In severe cases, the system may freeze upon startup.
Resolution: To fix bad sector errors, avoid using software running on the Windows platform. Instead, use HDD Regenerator software on Hirent’s Boot disk to scan and repair the drive.
Error 4: Loose RAM
Without RAM, the CPU cannot function. If the RAM is loose in a desktop, you may hear continuous beeping sounds; for laptops, the keyboard lights may flicker.
Resolution: Simply remove the RAM from its slot, then use a soft cloth or paper to clean both the RAM and the slot before reinserting it.
