Click on the Performance tab and then click on 'Memory' in the Task Manager window.
This is where the actual RAM capacity and usage, as well as available space, are displayed. Through these figures, you can accurately determine whether the RAM usage is insufficient or sufficient for upgrading to a more suitable RAM capacity.
Additionally, when preparing to upgrade RAM, you should check the Mainboard on your computer to see how much RAM capacity it supports to choose the most suitable RAM capacity.
2. Identify the type of RAM used on the computer
Knowing exactly the type of RAM used in your computer will help you choose the most suitable RAM type. For example, if your computer is using 4GB RAM with a Bus speed of 1333MHz, when you want to install and upgrade RAM, you also need to use RAM with a Bus speed of 1333MHz to ensure that the computer operates stably and achieves optimal performance.
Most common RAM types used on computers today are: DDR2, DDR3, and DDR4. The newer the RAM type, the higher the speed and performance. To accurately determine the RAM type your computer is using, you should use specialized testing software like CPU-Z. After installation, start CPU-Z and click on the 'Memory' tab. This is where detailed parameters of RAM on your computer are displayed.
Pay attention to the DRAM Frequency line because it contains the Bus speed parameters of RAM. If it displays SDR as the RAM type, the Bus speed of RAM will remain the same. However, if your computer is using DDR, DDR2, DDR3, or DDR4 RAM types, you need to take the values displayed in the DRAM Frequency section and multiply by 2 (x2) to get the accurate Bus speed of RAM.
