What to Do When Your Phone Takes a Dive in Water?
Step 1: When your phone takes a plunge into water, the first thing you should do is turn it off immediately. Simultaneously, remove all removable components such as SIM, memory card, and the battery.

Step 3: Place your phone in a bag of rice. While it may sound peculiar, rice is quite effective at absorbing moisture, making it a common method for drying water-soaked devices. However, small rice particles may enter the phone or its ports when using this method. Wrap a piece of gauze around the phone or use cotton to fill the gaps and ports before placing it all in the rice container.
Step 4: After allowing your device to dry for 1 or 2 days, take it out, clean it thoroughly, reinsert the battery or connect it to power, and test its normal functions such as listening, calling, button responsiveness, and touch sensitivity. If the phone doesn't power on, it may be severely damaged, and you should promptly take it to reputable phone repair centers for timely solutions.
What Not to Do?
- Do not turn on or use the phone in any case.
- Do not press any buttons or keys.
- Avoid tapping or shaking the phone to remove water.
- Do not disassemble any parts of the phone as it may void the warranty.
- Avoid blowing into the phone to expel water. This only leads to water penetrating deeper into the phone's internal components, causing more damage.
- Avoid using heat to evaporate water, such as using a hairdryer, microwave, or freezer. These methods are not recommended.
