The gaming phone Nubia Red Magic 7 was recently launched by ZTE in 2022, presenting users with one of the best choices for gamers in 2022. So how does it compare to its predecessor? Is it worth upgrading from the Nubia Red Magic 6?
1. Innovative design on the Nubia Red Magic 7 compared to the Nubia Red Magic 6
While still maintaining the rugged gaming phone aesthetics, the Nubia Red Magic makes a breakthrough compared to its predecessor by showcasing its internals - revealing the processor, cooling fan, RGB LED lights, cooling chamber, and more, creating a uniquely impressive design.
Additionally, the tempered glass of the Nubia Red Magic 7 utilizes Gorilla Glass Victus - providing better scratch and impact resistance compared to its predecessor.

Specifically, although both feature a 6.8-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a screen refresh rate of 165Hz, the Nubia Red Magic 7's display is improved, reaching a remarkable 720Hz refresh rate, while the Nubia Red Magic 6's is only 500Hz.
Additionally, the screen brightness has also been enhanced to a maximum of 700 nits instead of the predecessor's 630 nits, providing better visibility even under direct sunlight.
3. Powerful Configuration with Enhanced Stability
This is achieved as the Nubia Red Magic 7 is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, manufactured on the 4nm process, instead of the Snapdragon 888 chip of the Nubia Red Magic 6. Additionally, the new Adreno 730 GPU chip also contributes to the significantly improved processing performance of the Nubia Red Magic 7 compared to its predecessor.
Moreover, the new Redmagic 5.0 based on Android 12 on the Nubia Red Magic phone brings many optimizations compared to the old operating system of the Nubia Red Magic 6, providing better overall power with optimized gaming capabilities. Within the Game Space, users can also customize various parameters flexibly to deliver better processing performance for the device.
4. Camera Quality of Nubia Red Magic 7 Remains Unchanged Compared to its Predecessor, Nubia Red Magic
Maintaining the same trio of 64MP+8MP+2MP rear cameras and an 8MP front camera, ZTE shows little emphasis on upgrading the camera for its new flagship generation. However, the existing camera setup from 2021 will still offer diversified shooting modes thanks to new software on the device, yet the quality remains comparable to mid-range smartphones currently available in the market.
5. Battery Capacity Shows a Decline
While the Nubia Red Magic 6 boasted a 5050mAh battery, the Nubia Red Magic 7 opts for a smaller 4500mAh battery – undoubtedly a step back. Nevertheless, according to tests conducted by GSMArena, the Nubia Red Magic 7 manages to achieve a standby time of up to 89 hours – extending by over 1 hour compared to its predecessor. This could be attributed to energy-saving optimizations in the software as well as the new 4nm processor.
Both models feature 65W fast charging technology, capable of fully charging from 0 to 100% in just 38 minutes – an incredibly impressive figure compared to most phones available in the market today.
6. The Price of Nubia Red Magic 7 is Higher Compared to Nubia Red Magic 6
The Nubia Red Magic 7 is currently available from the official retailer starting at 20 million dong, whereas the Nubia Red Magic 6 is more affordable at just 17 million dong.
With a price difference of about 3 million dong, the Nubia Red Magic 7 not only brings a more powerful configuration and a unique breakthrough design but also refines the display compared to its predecessor.
However, the difference is not significant enough, so if you already own the Nubia Red Magic 6, upgrading to the Nubia Red Magic 7 may not be necessary as the Red Magic 6 itself still handles all mobile games on the market well.
