Windows 10 Mobile will officially be discontinued in a few weeks; and upon the end of support, everything seems to come to a halt. One of which is the WhatsApp application, this application will officially cease to function from December 31st, according to WindowsArea.de.
WhatsApp for Windows Phone will cease to function on December 31st.
At this moment, the application is still operational on Windows 10 Mobile and even Windows Phone 8.1 - an operating system that hasn't been supported since mid-2017. In fact, if you're still using Windows Phone 8.1, the Store will officially close on December 16th. However, it will still operate on Windows 10 Mobile after support ends on December 10th. But one thing is for sure, WhatsApp will be removed from this store starting December 31st.
Older versions of WhatsApp for Android and iOS are also set to cease operation although truth be told, these versions still work quite well. Starting February 1st next year, you won't be able to use this application on Android 2.3.7 or iOS 7 anymore, both of which are versions that appeared half a decade ago. According to the latest usage report from Google, at the current moment, Android 2.3.7 accounts for only 0.3% of the total Google Play devices.
If you wish to continue using WhatsApp, you'll need to upgrade to a newer operating system. If you're still using a Windows phone, it's time to switch to iOS or Android.
