Earlier this week, the social media giant Facebook launched the global release of the online video conferencing tool Messenger Rooms for all users. Concurrently, WABetaInfo reported that the company is implementing a shortcut on the Android version of WhatsApp.
At present, the website tracking changes and upcoming features on WhatsApp confirms that Messenger Rooms shortcuts have also been identified in the latest iOS beta version - 2.20.52.6 of WhatsApp. However, it is currently only deployed in specific regions.
WhatsApp Commences Testing of Messenger Rooms for iPhone
Reports state: 'We want to clarify once again that this feature is currently available in certain countries and specific users. Recent reports suggest that the feature is present in the United States, Ghana, Sri Lanka, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and will be rolled out in many other countries in the future'.
According to the information disclosed, the shortcut for Messenger Rooms is present in the attachment file picker in individual chats. After users tap on Room, the app will open a new window with a notification to 'create a room in Messenger and send the video group chat link to anyone, even if they are not using WhatsApp or Messenger app'.
If users wish to continue creating a Messenger Room, the app will then redirect them to the Facebook Messenger app. The option to create a Messenger Room will be available in the Calls tab.
Messenger Rooms on WhatsApp will come to the iOS operating system after Android and the web. On Android, the Room shortcut is found in the chat's sharing page, while for the web, the shortcut will be in the Attach button along with some other options.
