WhatsApp Status essentially works similar to Stories on Snapchat or Facebook. The new feature is currently available through WhatsApp's beta program, allowing users to directly share their Status to Facebook Story and other services.

According to The Verge, users do not need to directly link their Facebook account with WhatsApp to share Status to Facebook Story. Instead, this process is done through data sharing APIs on iOS and Android. This means that the content will be cross-shared across the app platforms on the user's device without the need to link accounts. Additionally, there is no option for automatic sharing of Status to other platforms.
The direct integration between WhatsApp and Facebook has always been a hot topic, as the social media giant had promised to stop collecting user data from WhatsApp since acquiring the messaging service in 2014. However, just 2 years later, Facebook reversed this policy, with some countries in Europe even demanding that Facebook stop collecting user data from WhatsApp.
