Familiar fairy characters have been altered, leaving audiences disappointed in the new film series.
Recent waves of Hollywood film adaptations have sparked mixed comments, as familiar characters now undergo dizzying changes. It's not just Disney princesses, even beloved fairy godmothers and enchantresses aren't spared.
Tinkerbell, the Fairy
The fairy character causing the most stir among audiences is Tinkerbell in the adaptation project Peter Pan & Wendy. No longer the petite, mischievous fairy with shiny golden hair, this new Tinkerbell appears much more mature, with a different skin tone from the classic animated version. Young actress Yara Shahidi has been criticized for not embodying Tinkerbell's essence, instead coming off rather bland.

The Fairy of Pinocchio's Wooden Boy
Before returning to the mythical land of Neverland, Disney introduced the live-action adaptation project Pinocchio via streaming platforms. Except for the main character resembling the animated version, the rest of the characters have differences. The most notable change here is the blue fairy, completely transformed and sparking controversy. Portrayed by actress Cynthia Eviro, the character sports a bald head, revealing attire, lacks charm, and shows signs of aging. The once gentle and charming fairy image is now gone.

The Winx Fairies
The Beautiful Winx Fairies caused a stir when they officially had their own live-action adaptation. However, this project quickly lost its appeal with the unveiling of the fairy ensemble. No longer unique in style, features, and color palette, the characters in the adaptation appear rather dull, blending in and lacking individual uniqueness.

The Fairy Godmother of Cinderella
Perhaps no fairy character has disappointed audiences like the Cinderella project did in 2021. Besides casting singer Camila Cabello as Cinderella, the movie also decided to cast a male actor as the fairy godmother. Billy Porter's appearance in this role, delivering gifts to Cinderella, left viewers feeling alienated and somewhat amused. At least in this case, Disney provided a more 'palatable' version in 2015, portrayed by actress Imelda Staunton.
