When will Mac machines be equipped with Face ID like iPhones?

We all know how Face ID revolutionizes and simplifies user experience. Whether you use an iPhone with Face ID, you're likely satisfied with the experience it brings. So, have you ever wondered why Apple hasn't equipped its Mac lineup, especially the iMac, with Face ID yet? Despite numerous rumors suggesting Apple's redesign plans for various devices, including MacBook, iMac, Mac Pro, and Mac mini, Face ID seems to be missing from the equation.

According to reports from Bloomberg, Apple previously planned to integrate iPhone's Face ID into the iMac lineup, but ultimately, this endeavor has been postponed until at least the end of this year or possibly into 2022. The real reason behind this decision remains known only to Apple. MacBook Pro and iMac are two of Apple's best-selling Mac models, and integrating Face ID is likely to significantly boost their sales. Apple certainly has the capability to implement Face ID, yet they have not done so thus far.

The Touch ID feature on the MacBook equipped with the T2 chip performs admirably. However, envisioning a scenario where the laptop automatically unlocks upon opening, without the need to touch the sensor, illustrates its seamless operation. It exudes a sense of technological sophistication and modernity. As for the iMac, rumors suggest that this year will mark a significant upgrade with a design akin to the Pro Display XDR, featuring thin bezels, the absence of a chin, and powered by Apple Silicon SoC. Yet, the absence of Face ID alongside these enhancements is a regrettable omission. Currently, users still rely on entering passwords to unlock the iMac, a cumbersome experience that falls short of expectations.

Bloomberg fails to provide any further leaks, leaving us hopeful that Apple listens to user feedback and endeavors to meet their desires.
