Travelers to Maho Beach in St Maarten not only enjoy the stunning scenery but also have the opportunity to admire airplanes flying low above.
Maho Beach is located in the country of Saint Maarten – the southern part of the island of Saint Maarten, one of the four countries forming the Kingdom of the Netherlands. When at Maho Beach, visitors will have the chance to witness airplanes soaring higher than just a few meters above them, as the beach is very close to Princess Juliana International Airport.
While it might appear dangerous, the safety measures are very high in reality. However, authorities still caution tourists not to stand at the end of the runway to prevent potential injuries or risks to life caused by aircraft contact.
The island of Saint Maarten is divided into two parts, with the northern part belonging to France and the southern part belonging to the Netherlands. The population of Saint Maarten is approximately 75,000 people, with nearly 39,000 residing on the Dutch side and 35,925 on the French side.
