Two budget phone contenders from familiar Chinese brands, Oppo and Xiaomi. Which phone reigns supreme? Xiaomi Redmi 9 debuted on June 10, 2020, followed by Oppo A15 five months later. They currently share similar prices, with Oppo A15 at 3,290,000 VND and Redmi 9 slightly lower at 2,950,000 VND.
1. Oppo A15 vs. Redmi 9 Design Comparison
Both devices share similar dimensions, with Oppo A15 measuring 164 x 75.4 x 7.9 mm and weighing 175g, while Xiaomi Redmi 9 measures 163.3 x 77 x 9.1 mm and weighs 198g.
In the budget phone segment, both products feature plastic backs and frames. Their front designs with waterdrop notches are somewhat outdated. The standout difference lies in their rear designs. Oppo A15 sports a modern, eye-catching design with a square camera module curved at the corners, while Redmi 9's camera array sits centrally on the back, encircled by a hidden circular frame.
Both phone models are equipped with features like fingerprint sensors, microSD card slots, and 3.5mm headphone jacks.
2. Display Quality Comparison between Oppo A15 and Redmi 9
Oppo A15 features a basic 6.52-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and 480 nits brightness. It's suitable for watching movies and browsing news.
On the other hand, Xiaomi Redmi 9 boasts a slightly superior IPS LCD display measuring 6.53 inches with a good Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. Despite its brightness being 400 nits, the screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

4. Performance Comparison between Oppo A15 and Redmi 9
Oppo A15 is powered by the Helio P35 chip (12nm) from MediaTek, while Redmi 9 utilizes the MediaTek Helio G80 chip (12 nm). These are both low-range chips, so the performance won't be high, and overall, there isn't much difference. With these chipsets, both phones are suitable for basic daily tasks like web browsing, social media use, and light gaming.
In terms of memory capacity, Redmi 9 outperforms Oppo A15 with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM, whereas Oppo A15 has 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.
5. Battery Comparison between Oppo A15 and Redmi 9
Redmi 9 boasts a higher battery capacity of 5020mAh with 18W fast charging. Meanwhile, Oppo A15 only has a 4230mAh battery with 10W regular charging, but it comes with reverse charging feature.
Based on the assessment, the Redmi 9 seems to outshine Oppo A15 with its Full HD+ display, 4 cameras, larger battery capacity, higher memory capacity, and lower price.
