Introduced in the Virtual Reality version, Ming is being used in the wrong position by Liên Quân players due to his inability to showcase strength as this VGVD 'migrating' hero.
Compared to Bijan's debut week, Ming is proving to be significantly weaker than teammates. Many Liên Quân gamers consider this a 'flop' from VGVD. Ming's lackluster debut can be attributed to factors such as not fitting the Liên Quân meta, having a too short skill range, or players using Ming as a Mid Lane Mage, making this Support hero weaker against opponents. Here are the reasons why Ming is falling short of the development team's expectations.

Agile hero meta
The transfer of twin heroes between VGVD and Liên Quân is considered Tencent Games developers' first experiment. The difference in meta has led to the Astrologer's poor performance in the first week. Liên Quân players, favoring agile heroes with continuous map-crossing capabilities over VGVD's Warrior and Tanker meta, are causing Ming's struggle. Ming's Enhancement Secret skill has a short range, making it challenging to connect with allies or opponents. Besides supporting less agile Marksmen, Ming can hardly connect with any other lane due to Liên Quân gamers favoring agile hero meta.
Half-hearted Mage
Unable to fit snugly into the Support position, Liên Quân gamers are compelled to take Ming to Mid or Jungle. However, this strategy has only further lowered Ming's pick rate recently. Liên Quân players may aim to transform Ming into a Gildur 2.0 with the ability to navigate both Mid and Support roles. In reality, due to the short skill range and squishy nature when dealing magic damage, Ming appears quite harmless in the face of team clashes and vulnerable against enemy Mage heroes.

If focusing on being a Mage lurking in the bushes for burst damage, Ming cannot compete with Veera or Raz. On the other hand, in long-range engagements, Ming is overshadowed by Liên Quân heroes like Kahlii, Zata, and Tulen. The abundance of better options at various positions is causing the 116th hero of Liên Quân to be gradually forgotten, despite being introduced less than a week ago. Recognizing Ming's dire situation, the Liên Quân developers have taken steps to enhance the strength of this hero. However, regaining popularity will have to wait for the right moment, such as changes in the meta, the introduction of special equipment, etc.
