When boarding a plane, flight attendants always remind you to turn off your mobile phone and handheld electronic devices to ensure flight safety. But why is there such a requirement?
Why do you need to turn off your phone on an airplane?
Below is the reason why the cabin crew always asks passengers to turn off all electronic devices or switch them to airplane mode when the plane takes off and lands.

Phones emit radio waves that can interfere with the sensitive electronic systems of the aircraft. The takeoff and landing phases of the aircraft are considered the two most critical stages of every flight and require the cabin crew to be highly focused, maintain communication with the ATC air traffic control station, and ensure the operation of all devices on the aircraft.
In addition to eliminating the risk of interference, banning the use of electronic devices also prevents the possibility of harm to passengers in the event the aircraft encounters rough weather conditions, where devices could be thrown about, posing a danger.
Besides, prohibiting the use of personal electronic devices during takeoff and landing also helps passengers focus on safety instructions better, and the cabin crew is not distracted from their duties.
For domestic flights in Vietnam, current airlines all prohibit the use of mobile phones on airplanes and allow the use of some other electronic devices after the aircraft has stabilized at altitude.

Therefore, when you are asked to turn off your mobile device on a flight, you should follow the instructions of the flight attendant. Every regulation has its reason, all for your safety on each flight.
