The new download button on Chrome will display information about downloading files as well as files that have completed downloading. In other words, Google is 'implementing' the download experience on the Microsoft Edge browser for its users.
Chrome's download bar will be replaced by a dynamic toolbar button and window.
Discovered by the vigilant Redditor u/Leopeva64-2, the enhanced download icon now resides in the Chrome Canary toolbar. Additionally, the development team has also added the basic structure of the download bubble.
You can download the latest version of Google Chrome here to experience the new features:

According to previous reports, the download button changes color and size whenever users download a file. Specifically, the download icon becomes smaller and shifts from gray to navy blue during active downloads. Additionally, there's a mentioned 'commitment feature':
- Enhancing the structure for the download bubble.
- Introducing DownloadBubbleUIController to create a main view mode from recent downloads and DownloadDialogView to generate header and footer.
- Adding placeholder for DownloadRowView and DownloadRowListView, to be updated later.
It's not clear yet, but it's highly likely that the download bubble on Chrome will have similar options to those available on the download bar, including Open, Show in folder, ... .
In addition, Google is planning to replace the download bar (located at the bottom of the window) with a download bubble in the toolbar, as confirmed by a comment in the patch. A downward arrow displays ongoing downloads along with a circular progress bar. Upon completion of the download process, the screen will show a navy blue button.
