Will Huawei P50 be the Last Huawei Phone with Leica Branding?

Recent leaks from leaker Teme suggest that the partnership between Huawei and Leica may officially end after the upcoming Huawei P50. Specifically, Leica's role in Huawei phones has decreased from extensive software and hardware collaboration to merely licensing the brand: from models like P9/Mate 20 with direct involvement of Leica experts, to P20/P50 shifting towards innovative hardware like RYYB sensors, super zoom lenses, and freeform lenses, with the 'Co-Engineered With Leica' branding merely serving as a brand symbol.

Leica is also reportedly seeking new partners, with potential candidates like Honor, Xiaomi, and Sharp. It's not surprising that Huawei and Leica may part ways, given the challenges in maintaining Huawei's smartphone business. In such circumstances, sustaining a partnership like this seems meaningless.
