Amanda Langowski, Director of Windows Insider at Microsoft, stated: 'Some changes, such as the direction of folder icons and default file type icons, have been made to create more consistency across Microsoft products displaying files. Notably, top-level user folders such as Desktop, Documents, Downloads, and Pictures have a new design to help users differentiate them more easily, and the Recycle Bin icon has also been updated'.
These icon changes are rather minor in the grand scheme of Windows' plans, but they're part of Microsoft's effort to modernize the operating system. Microsoft has unveiled new system icons for Windows 10 earlier this month and prior to that, the company updated some Windows 10 icons last year with colorful versions, as well as tweaking the Start menu to make it more visually cohesive and sensible.
Microsoft is also planning to 'refresh Windows,' with a Windows 10 feature update scheduled for release in the latter half of this year set to bring some major visual changes to the operating system, codenamed Sun Valley. The company is expected to detail its plans and share more information about the future of Windows in the coming months.
There are also some other minor updates in build 21343. The Windows Administrative Tools folder is now called Windows Tools, the Get Help link on the touch keyboard is now named Learn more.
You can download Windows 10 build 21343 through Windows Update. However, you need to be in the Dev channel, so you can go to the Windows Insider Program tab in Settings to get started. If you're unsure how to update Windows 10 you can refer here.
