The Body Smart scale, recently unveiled by Withings, comes with basic features and a unique 'one more thing' – the ability to hide the user's weight. Advertised as enhancing privacy when the individual wishes to check their body weight in public.
Withings Precision Technology, focusing on the brand's health-related technologies, is still present in this product. It incorporates multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis, using electrical signals to measure the resistance and reactions of body tissues to determine water weight, fat, muscle mass, and visceral fat mass. It also measures BMR, basal metabolic rate, and includes semiconductor sensors for precise weight measurements, along with advanced algorithms for in-depth analyses related to the user's body composition and weight.
The unique feature of Body Smart is the Eyes Closed Mode, helping conceal weight display on the device. This is explained to alleviate user hesitation and maintain privacy during weight checks. Instead, it will display general information such as step count, weather conditions, and air quality.... Of course, the weight index will still be sent to the user's smartphone app for easy tracking.
Similar to other smart scales on the market, Body Smart can store data for up to 8 family members, making tracking more convenient. Priced at $99, it is currently Withings' most affordable scale. Previously, the company offered the Body Comp scale, capable of measuring body age, priced at $200, and the Body Scan scale with 6 ECG lines, priced at $300.
