The T1 - KT match has left a lasting impression on the global LoL community, especially with the performance of the Gumayusi - Keria duo.
On March 25th (Vietnam time), the global LoL audience witnessed T1's debut in the Spring 2023 LCK playoffs. After a perfect group stage, T1 chose KT Rolster as their opponent for the second round of this year's LCK Spring playoffs, which was expected to be easier compared to Hanwha Life Esports. However, the match did not unfold as smoothly as anticipated by most spectators and experts.
In the 'media showdown' match, KT demonstrated their presence was not merely luck. Despite being obliterated in game 1, the KT squad not only did not crumble but also returned even stronger. Twice trailing behind, KT managed to snatch victory right after, pushing the match to game 5. Indeed, without the superstar moments from Gumayusi, Keria, or Faker... T1 might have faced defeat.
Watching the nail-biting match until the final minutes, the LoL community displayed excitement and satisfaction. Even experts and prominent figures in the LoL scene couldn't contain their excitement. Caster Caedrel labeled it the most epic BO5 series, while journalist Ashley Kang remarked that this 'media showdown' reminded her of the glorious years of both teams in the past. One audience member admitted they were 'holding their breath witnessing Kiin's Teleports and T1's base assaults.'
However, notably, one audience member bluntly commented: 'It's unfair, even unimaginable how Gumayusi decided to become an ADC, Keria wanted to become a Support, and now both of them have chosen to play for T1. It's unbelievable. T1 should feel lucky, and perhaps both of those players are feeling lucky too.'
Indeed, in a wild BO5 series, Gumayusi and Keria made bold and precise decisions, securing victories for T1. Particularly noteworthy was the skirmish near the Dragon pit, where Gumayusi and Keria charged towards KT simultaneously. Both players, with the duo of Xayah - Rakan, orchestrated a perfectly synchronized display, utterly decimating KT. This could become one of the most beautiful collaborations in LCK history.
T1 has earned a well-deserved victory, and they will await the winner of the Gen.G Esports - HLE match. However, audiences (especially T1 fans) can rest assured as they will likely witness many more dazzling performances, especially with the team currently in exceptional form.
