Amou Haji, the man who refrained from bathing with water or soap for over half a century, recently passed away at the age of 94 in Dejgah village, Fars province, southern Iran. Haji, dubbed as the 'filthiest man in the world,' abstained from bathing with water or soap for over 60 years, following 'emotional failures in his youth.' Since then, he was determined never to bathe again.
In 2014, a local newspaper reported that Haji mainly ate food found by the roadside, smoked cigarettes filled with animal feces, believing that cleanliness would make him sick. A few months ago, villagers persuaded him to bathe. And after many years, he finally agreed. However, just a few months later, Haji passed away.
Apart from Mr. Haji, The Hindustan Times also reported on a man named Kailash Kalau Singh, who lives in a village outside the holy city of Varanasi, and who has not bathed in 30 years, expressing a belief in ending 'all the problems the country is facing.'During every village gathering, Mr. Kalau would light a fire, smoke a pipe, and stand on one leg to pray. 'It's akin to bathing with water. Bathing with fire helps eradicate all bacteria and infections from the body.'Source: The Guardian
