Ho Chi Minh City in 2018.
Hello, everyone!
It can be said that in everyone's life, there is a hero. Someone with special abilities, a good heart, and heroism, an ideal model for us to aspire to. It could be someone always ready to protect and assist us anytime. Heroes advocate for the weak and fight for justice.
I have contemplated this matter for a long time. In my mind, images of superhero siblings, Batman, Spider-Man, well-known to our childhood, come to life. I admire their talents, respect their courageous qualities, and their love for humanity...
However, to write about a hero of mine, narrate vividly and in detail, I choose to write about my homeroom teacher, a real-life hero, by my side every day, bringing much joy and tranquility to me and my classmates.
My teacher is around 30 years old. He has a robust and balanced physique, with strong hands and long legs. I've heard older students say that he excels in sports and has won awards in track and field. Watching him on the school field, I admire his agile and determined steps. When he stands at the lectern and teaches us new lessons, he is truly a hero of knowledge. Dry history lessons become unusually lively through his engaging teaching. He often talks about historical figures through interesting stories. For example, when teaching about the famous general Tran Hung Dao, he recounts his famous quotes: 'Behead the deity first, then offer allegiance' or 'This year, leisurely fight the enemy.' Lessons about the wise king Le Thanh Tong involve tales of his ingenious governance. In summary, what he teaches us penetrates our minds naturally, providing us with profound and interesting philosophies. We look forward to his classes as if anticipating a fun and entertaining hour. Our teacher-hero is truly admirable, isn't he? And we are fortunate to be his students.
My teacher is also a hero who always protects us. He teaches us to obey traffic laws when moving outside, to walk in the right place with white chalk lines when crossing the road, and to pay attention to traffic lights or police signals. Especially after school, when many of us have to cross Truong Chinh street, which is busy with traffic, he and another teacher quickly step out, blow a whistle for permission, then stretch a rope for us to safely cross. He observes carefully; if someone stumbles, he quickly steps forward, lifts them up, and guides them to the other side of the road. His meticulous care makes all of us grateful and fond of him.
Once, I was going to school early. As I approached the construction site, a middle-aged man, menacing in appearance, stopped me and said, 'Give me all your money. If not, don't blame me...' Terrified, I looked around for help, but in the early morning, it was deserted. I didn't know what to do, so trembling, I opened my bag, took out the pocket money that my parents gave me, intending to give it to him. Then I heard my teacher's voice behind me: 'What's going on? What do you need?' Turning back, I saw my homeroom teacher, and I was overjoyed. The man stuttered and said something to the teacher: 'What's it to you? Get lost, or else.' My teacher sternly faced him and said, 'This is my student. If you continue with this extortion, I will report it to the police. You won't have peace.' With that, my teacher pulled me towards him, hugged me warmly and firmly. The man, seeing this, mumbled something and walked away. Only then did I burst into tears and tell the teacher how scared I was. He led me into the school, wiped away my tears with a handkerchief, then thoughtfully said, 'We can't let you endure such insecurity anymore. Rest assured, I will figure out a solution.' A few days later, I noticed that every early morning, my teacher and other young teachers took turns standing guard at the school gate. When our parents brought us, the teachers welcomed and immediately led us inside the yard. The menacing man was nowhere to be seen. I silently thanked my teacher, not knowing how to express it, only trying to be more obedient and study harder to make him happy.
Our teacher, our hero, is not only kind to us. I've seen him carrying a heavy bag and helping an elderly lady cross the street. On a rainy day with flooded Truong Chinh street, he ran out, guided a stalled pregnant woman's car through the waterlogged section. Rumor has it that on Sundays, he often participates in social activities, visiting orphanages or joining the Teacher's Union to clean up trash along the Nhieu Loc canal. Inspired by him, we encourage each other to follow his example, to do good whenever we can, and especially to maintain environmental hygiene—no littering, keeping our beloved city green, clean, and beautiful.
Every day in class, I meet my hero, hearing his warm and powerful voice during lectures, and learning valuable lessons from him. Thinking of him, I feel a deep sense of trust and a powerful encouragement to strive, to become someone like him: both knowledgeable and compassionate, a hero in our everyday lives.
Greetings, everyone! Wishing you always have heroes like him in your lives!
