Greetings, everyone!
If someone asks who my hero is, I wouldn't hesitate to say it's my elder brother. Having a brother like him is truly a joy and a stroke of luck.
My brother's name is Minh Quan, and he is a first-year student majoring in English at the University of Languages and International Studies - Vietnam National University, Hanoi. He has a tall and well-proportioned stature, with a particularly bright smile. He's a good listener, sharing stories from class and tales of friends and life with me. Being the younger sister, I am always treated with kindness and protection. We, as siblings, live harmoniously and rarely have disagreements, as our parents have taught us that every issue has a solution, and siblings in a home should not raise their voices at each other, preserving the cheerful atmosphere.
My brother and I share countless memories, from sneaking out to catch crickets to roasting corn and cassava with the neighborhood kids. But the memory that lingers in my mind is when he rescued me from some older classmates. After school that day, as I was cycling home, I was teased and surrounded by those classmates, feeling helpless and on the verge of tears. Just in time, my brother appeared. Instead of scolding or shouting at them, he used gentle words to make them apologize and stop bothering me. On the way home, I shared the school stories with him, grateful for his timely intervention to protect his innocent, little sister. He advised me to walk with others next time and speak up loudly if anything goes wrong, so people around can help.
Being the eldest son, my brother takes on most household chores to assist our parents, and I help him with smaller tasks like sweeping and picking vegetables. He never envies me for that; in fact, he says that he's doing it now, and when he goes to university, he'll hand over all responsibilities to me. Presently, he's a first-year student at a top-rated university, majoring in English. He chose English because he wants to master the language for future careers such as translation, interpretation in companies, publishing houses, or even becoming a tour guide or lecturer in universities and language centers. English, being a widely used language today, provides many work opportunities, so he constantly strives to enhance his knowledge.
Minh Quan also guides me through difficult math problems and tutors me in English grammar, as well as the listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills of the subject. Since he studies away from home, he can't regularly tutor me, but every time he returns, he spends considerable time guiding me. He advises me to listen to our parents, strive to be a good student to make them proud, and help with lighter tasks at home to give them some rest. His friendly personality has earned him the love of many friends and teachers. Every time he leaves for the city to study, he promises to buy me a gift if I excel in studies and behave well. His gifts range from snack packs, chocolate boxes, and hair accessories I adore, to fairy tales, fables, and books full of meaningful lessons.
My older brother is caring and always shows affection to his younger sister. He readily covers up for me when I catch a cold from playing in the rain with friends, taking responsibility before our parents and advising me to take care of my health so they won't worry. Such an amazing hero he is. How about your heroes? Share your stories with me!
Dear Esteemed Greetings,
John Doe
