Every day at school, I look up at the S-shaped map, and it seems that Truong Sa has appeared before my eyes, where you soldiers are guarding the islands amidst the roaring waves. Thinking of you enduring the sun and wind to protect Truong Sa, my gratitude knows no bounds.
You have safeguarded peace for the homeland, preventing invasions, allowing us, the younger generation, to sit under the roof of a peaceful socialist society like today. I promise to fulfill the duties of a student, to be well-behaved and studious. We are very upset about this. Paracel and Spratly Islands have been recorded in the proof documents for thousands of years, proving that they belong to Vietnam, not a 'desert island' as China thinks. Yet... I am truly worried, although I know I can't help much. But I always believe in the victory of justice, always believe in the patriotic spirit of our nation, and especially trust in the courage and determination of all of you in the fight. You have not hesitated to leave your family, leave your homeland to come to a distant and challenging sea. I know that your life is lacking in material things, hardships, and dangers, but you still try to protect the country's sovereignty. We believe that you will protect the islands to the end, not allowing anyone to encroach on what belongs to the sacred 'S' shape of our nation.
