Xiaomi joyfully commemorates a decade of its Redmi sub-brand, debuting its first smartphone named Redmi 1.
As shared by Wang Hua - Xiaomi's CEO, the first Redmi phone was launched on this very day (31/7) a decade ago. The product introduction conference officially marked the inception of affordable, mid-range smartphones in China.
Redmi 1Following this conference, the device achieved unprecedented sales records, altering perceptions of smartphones priced below 1000 CNY (approximately 3.3 million VND) among users. Gradually, Redmi products became popular, even experiencing remarkable growth in the global market.
Redmi 1 (or Hongmi) is Xiaomi's maiden smartphone equipped with a quad-core MediaTek MT6589T processor, paired with 1GB RAM and 4G memory. The device supports 3G network connectivity. It features a 4.7-inch display, 720P resolution, and 312 PPI. The rear sports an 8MP primary camera and a 1.3MP selfie camera. This phone comes with a 2000mAh battery and pre-installed MIUI 5 interface based on Android 4.2.
