Design
The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 has a reasonably compact size and weight (around 500g), not too heavy. It can be used for extended periods without feeling fatigued. Personally, I find this size to be just right. The device frame is made of metal material, looks solid and premium. The edges of the device have a rectangular design. The back cover of the device we evaluated is pearl white in color. The pearl white color has a matte finish. And no fingerprint marks.
The rear camera module on the top left protrudes slightly. If not careful, it can easily scratch the table surface, so you should carry a case to store it safely and securely.
This tablet is designed for portrait orientation use. Because the selfie camera is still placed at the top edge of the screen Not on the horizontal edge of the screen like new tablets from other camps
There are a total of four speakers positioned around the device, two on top and two at the bottom (when holding the device vertically).
Display
The screen of the Xiaomi Pad 5 utilizes an 11-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1600, delivering stunning and sharp visuals. It also features a 120Hz refresh rate, enhancing the smoothness of on-screen content. Additionally, it supports Dolby Vision display, adding extra beauty to supported content (YouTube / Netflix).
A drawback of LCD screens is that when watching movies or playing games with dark or night scenes, the black areas may appear slightly illuminated instead of being completely black like OLED or AMOLED screens. However, overall, it's not bad at all.
Sound
This tablet model boasts four speakers, providing exceptionally loud sound without distortion. In terms of audio quality, it's decent, though not as crisp. There's a bit of bass when gaming or watching movies, and the separation between left and right channels is good.
Smart Pen
As mentioned earlier, the Xiaomi Smart Pen stylus is not included in the box. However, it needs to be purchased separately. The pen must be connected to the tablet via Bluetooth beforehand. By turning on Bluetooth on the tablet, then placing the pen on the right edge of the device (vertically) to align with the charging strip. Attaching the pen like this will also enable wireless charging.
The pen itself has the size and weight of a regular ballpoint pen. It feels good to hold and write with. It also supports up to 4,096 levels of pressure, suitable for drawing with compatible apps like Autodesk's Sketchbook (available for free download in the Google Play Store). From my usage, I find this pen capable of drawing well. It detects shading, drawing, and coloring effectively. The lines drawn are smooth, intact, without any breaks or skips.
The pen has 2 buttons for clicking. Most drawing apps use the bottom button to switch to eraser mode. However, for regular MIUI usage, holding the bottom button will open the Swift Notes app for quick notes, while holding the top button will take a screenshot of specific areas of the screen. Unfortunately, the pen lacks other features to utilize, such as music playback controls. Or using the remote camera shutter like this, because the effort has been connected via Bluetooth.
Split Screen Feature
An essential feature of large-screen devices nowadays is the split-screen function to use 2 apps simultaneously. It's quite simple, you just need to open the desired app and press the Recent Apps button, then long-press that app and select the split-screen icon. Then choose another app to open, and you're done.

Performance
While the Snapdragon 860 chip may not be this year's flagship, it's an upgrade from the Snapdragon 855 series, which was used in top phones in 2019 (like Black Shark 2, Red Magic 3, Mi 9, etc.), ensuring ample power for various applications. It handles internet browsing, multitasking with multiple tabs, video playback up to 4K 60fps smoothly.
Testing popular high-graphics games including PUBG, ROV, MARVEL Future Revolution, setting graphics to the highest. They can still be played smoothly without lag, even with demanding games like Genshin Impact, with full graphics settings, gameplay remains comfortable (but there are some hiccups when encountering enemy crowds). But if anyone plans to buy and play these games... Honestly, I don't recommend it because it's exhausting, playing PUBG alone is already tiring, it hurts the wrists a lot.
Camera
The rear camera of the Xiaomi Pad 5 boasts a 13MP resolution, the quality remains average but understandable as it's a tablet. So, I didn't focus much on the camera performance. (But it's not bad) The 8MP front camera is great for selfies or conducting video calls.
Battery
This tablet's 8720 mAh battery can comfortably last all day, even when taken outdoors, connecting to WiFi from a mobile hotspot, ensuring long-lasting usage throughout the day. Additionally, the charging system supports up to 33W, but the box only includes a 22.5W charger, so charging takes around 2 hours from 3% to 100% (using the 33W charger will be a bit faster).
Conclusion
The Xiaomi Pad 5 is considered as the first 10-million tablet to bring very interesting specifications for its price range. Despite having a 2.5K resolution screen, 120Hz refresh rate with stylus support, 4 speakers with Dolby Atmos, and smooth operation for those looking for an affordable, powerful Android tablet, now there's the Xiaomi Pad 5 as an option.
