The manufacturer has announced that MIUI 14 has reduced the firmware size compared to MIUI 13 and utilizes a new architecture to deliver better performance.
Design
MIUI 14 introduces a completely new design; the company has revamped the overall design as well as that of each application. Icons are larger, and their sizes can vary. Additionally, there are new widget formats and folders that bring more optimization for users.

Moreover, the new version also includes new pet and plant widgets. This feature is similar to the Pixel Pals app on iOS. After adding new pets and plants to the home screen, users can interact and play with them.
Performance

Xiaomi App sizes have been significantly reduced, with only 8 apps currently non-removable. The company asserts that the system is now 60% smoother. Not only system apps but also third-party apps have seen performance improvements.
New Features
Perhaps the most notable feature of MIUI 14 is its compact size. The total firmware size is only 13.09GB, much smaller than previous versions. Additionally, there's a cleanup app that can compress the size of rarely used apps and only keep a single copy of duplicate files.

The software also brings new notification management options. Users can now dismiss notifications with a single swipe. Additionally, newly installed apps need to allow notification permissions.
Security has also been enhanced with all user data being stored only on the device.
AI Features
Several new AI features have been added. The interface can extract text from images. Users will press and hold characters on the image for the software to recognize letters. Over 8 languages are supported.
Integration with Ecosystem
MIUI 14 allows users to easily connect to other devices within the ecosystem. The company claims support for over a billion devices. The interface upon connection has also been redesigned.

Family Features

MIUI 14 allows you to create a group of up to 8 members with customizable permissions. Users can share photo albums with the family group. Everyone in the group can view and upload new photos.
Moreover, members can share health information. Additionally, parents can limit usage time and app access for their children.
