However, in a recent Q&A session on Weibo, Xiaomi EV addressed the question of whether their first car, the Xiaomi SU7, will be sold globally. The company stated that currently, the focus of this product is the domestic market in China. Therefore, it seems that the car model will not appear on the international market.

Xiaomi officially announced its entry into car manufacturing on March 30, 2021, stating that the initial investment in the automotive business would be 10 billion RMB, with an expected investment of 10 billion USD over the next 10 years. Xiaomi's founder and CEO, Lei Jun, has expressed high hopes for the company's first car, the SU7, stating that he wants to achieve success with it.

However, it seems global users will have to wait for the second generation of Xiaomi's SU7 to experience the company's electric car. Interestingly, Xiaomi is now aiming to become one of the top 5 global automakers within 15-20 years. Lei Jun has set ambitious goals to become a key player in the smart driving field by 2024.
However, this path is fraught with challenges as the industry is already dominated by long-standing giants. Lei himself admits that for Xiaomi to succeed, it must produce over 10 million units annually.

Another notable detail is Xiaomi EV's decision to focus solely on the Xiaomi EV brand, rather than expanding the product line with Redmi cars. Redmi, Xiaomi's budget-friendly sub-brand, caters to a more budget-conscious market segment. Currently, Xiaomi seems determined to establish a strong foothold in the premium electric car market, but whether it can compete with long-standing rivals remains to be seen.
