Yamaha Vietnam teased on their fanpage this morning with a short clip announcing an event on September 15 to unveil a new motorcycle. Unlike previous occasions, no images of the bike were revealed. The video features Mono - one of the 3 ambassadors for this new line of motorcycles. Mono has been Yamaha Vietnam's ambassador since last year, and his image is closely associated with the Exciter series. In fact, through Yamaha's conveyed messages, one can somewhat anticipate that the model to be introduced is the new generation Exciter. The first generation Yamaha Exciter was introduced in 2005, powered by a 135cc engine. Since then, every 3-4 years, Yamaha has released a new version, incorporating various upgrades and differences from its predecessor (except for the 2009 and 2011 versions, which didn't see significant improvements). The latest generation of Exciter introduced by Yamaha at the end of 2020, impresses with its unique design compared to its predecessor, while also upgrading the engine to 155 VVA, specifically a 155cc SOHC 4-stroke, 1-cylinder engine. This engine delivers a maximum power of 17.7 horsepower at 9,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 14.4 Nm at 8,500 rpm. At that time, the Exciter was referred to by the company as the 'mini R1' to indicate that the R1 was the design inspiration for this model.
The heat of the Exciter gradually subsides as its direct competitor, the Winner X, is introduced with improvements in equipment, safety technology, and even discount programs of tens of millions of dong. It cannot be denied that the stature of the Exciter as a pioneer is evident, and personally, I find the Exciter somewhat superior in terms of design. However, Yamaha clearly knows that they need to constantly bring about changes to stay on equal footing in this showdown.
If in previous launch preparations, the design of the bike was often leaked, there is still no information about the new model that Yamaha will introduce. Who knows, it might be the new generation FreeGo as well. Let's wait and see. Which model are you most looking forward to being introduced?
