Earlier this year, at the annual developer conference Build 2018, Microsoft unveiled a new application named Your Phone, providing users with a seamless experience between smartphone and PC. Additionally, Your Phone enables users to make calls, send and receive SMS messages, manage photo libraries, and even drag and drop images into other applications.
Your Phone is currently operating on Windows 10
The application was added to the Microsoft Store back in May of this year and opened to Insider users a few weeks ago. As discovered by WindowsObserver, the application is currently operational on various versions of Windows 10, including Windows 10 April 2018 Update (or Windows 10 v1803).
Typically, when the software giant Microsoft promotes applications or application features as part of a feature update, the application will utilize APIs specific to that update or at least the latest operating system version listed as the Build. This is evident in applications like Paint 3D, which is exclusive to Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and higher versions, or when users must update to Windows 10 Fall Creators Update to experience the OneDrive Files On-Demand feature.
Fortunately, Your Phone does not fall into these cases. Instead, the application is deployed entirely independently of the operating system.
However, it is regrettable that the application is currently quite limited. Users are unable to make calls or send and receive SMS messages, and it only displays the 25 most recent photos on the user's phone. Additionally, the application currently only works on Android devices, with support for iOS devices coming soon.
