Last year, Samsung and Microsoft strengthened their partnership with a series of improvements for the Your Phone app (embedded in Windows 10) specifically designed for Samsung devices. Beginning with the integration of Link to Windows, it became evident that the app performs notably better on Samsung phones. Eventually, screen mirroring functionality even became exclusive to Samsung devices.

Now, the impact of this collaboration continues to unfold with a brand new feature exclusively for Samsung devices - specifically, the recently introduced Galaxy S20 family. Roberto Bojorquez, Program Director at Microsoft, announced over the weekend that starting with the new smartphones, the Your Phone app will support RCS messaging, as long as the default SMS app on the phone is Samsung Messages.
RCS, or Rich Communication Services, represents a significant evolution from traditional SMS and MMS messaging, offering a plethora of features expected from modern messaging services. With no character limits, you can send higher quality images and various file types, receive read receipts, and even see when the other person is typing. Google is actively promoting the widespread adoption of this technology globally, possibly as a competitive effort against Apple's iMessage service.
Of course, the latest Samsung phones are not yet available for purchase, so you won't be able to utilize this feature right away. However, if you've pre-ordered the Galaxy S20, this could be something worth looking forward to.
