YouTube has recently implemented several convenient features to enhance the viewing experience for video viewers and content creators. The company has just added real-time subscriber counts to YouTube Studio on desktops, and they are currently experimenting with automatically detecting and displaying lists of products or related items featured in videos.
The company is said to have tested the first version of this feature in 2020. However, the testing period was quite short. Furthermore, YouTube even stopped the experiment midway. Currently, according to the official update, the company is rolling out this feature to more users in the U.S.
In terms of functionality, this feature will automatically detect lists of products or related items in the video. Upon detection, the platform will display the list of products amidst the suggested videos, allowing viewers to scroll through and browse beneath the video player. The company also added that 'the goal is to help people discover more videos and information about those products on YouTube.'
As a result, after the launch of this feature, viewers will be able to explore various products featured in their favorite creators' videos, even if the creators do not provide links to those products. This way, viewers will have the opportunity to shop online directly from YouTube, similar to users on Instagram.
