Not long ago, YouTube announced a series of new enhancements for the video recommendation feature on the YouTube app for iOS and Android as well as on the web platform. Specifically, these changes include the ability to remove channels from recommendations, display reasons why specific channels or videos are recommended, and filter channels on the homepage or next video playback page through filters.
While the feature to remove a specific channel has been implemented on the app for Android and iOS for some time, the new video filtering feature based on new topics is only being rolled out to a selected group of users on YouTube for Android.
Sources from Neowin suggest that YouTube is currently deploying video recommendation filtering for Android users globally.
As a result, the filtering categories are currently available on the homepage and are designed to be located at the top corner of the next video playback screen, just below the currently playing video. Users can scroll through the topics horizontally to select and view videos.
The feature is currently being rolled out on the YouTube app for Android, with no clarity on when it will be available on iOS and the web platform.
