According to the email content received by YouTube TV subscribers, the Dark Theme interface was deployed on the platform in mid-August. A source from Android Police confirms Google's official announcement on this matter.
Google states that implementing the Dark Theme interface on YouTube TV reduces screen brightness contrast, providing users with a better viewing experience and eye comfort while watching movies or videos. The Dark Theme switch option is now available in the settings menu.
Once the option is activated, the entire website will adopt a dark theme interface as shown below, including the background, main screen, settings, and various other menus.
YouTube TV web platform adds Dark Theme interface
Previously, YouTube TV utilized a white app bar with shortcut buttons for navigating the Library, Home, and Live sections at the bottom of the screen. However, the bright interface almost gave users a feeling of glare.
Now everything on the player window adopts a dark theme interface, even on the YouTube app for mobile devices, allowing users to browse suggested videos seamlessly without interruption by images.
On the help page, Google states that the Dark Theme interface is now available for YouTube TV web platform and the company will soon roll out the interface on other platforms such as Android and iOS.
