A recent fire incident at the Zone 9 Cooperative on November 19 resulted in 6 fatalities, putting the popular youth hangout spot in Hanoi at the risk of permanent closure. However, just 3 days after the fire, starting from the evening of November 22, the office block and fashion shops in this cooperative have reopened their doors.
By the evening of November 25, most of the shops here have returned to normal operations.
An employee at a souvenir shop in Zone 9 mentioned: Over the past two days, Zone 9 has gradually resumed operations. The eateries, bars, and fashion stores have reopened. Additionally, repair activities are still ongoing.
According to observations by PV Education Vietnam Electronic Newspaper, some reopened stalls are offering attractive promotions such as up to 50% discounts... Moreover, many cafes and eateries are attracting customers upon their return.
Especially, on the second floor of the Barbetta row houses, an eye-catching decoration has drawn in many couples for wedding photoshoots. This area remains an enticing spot for young people to capture moments and explore.

Như Thảo, a student from the University of Business and Technology, expressed her regret if 'Zone 9' is permanently closed. She sees it as a unique and rare space for the youth, a pristine and romantic oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of urbanized Hanoi. Thảo suggests that the authorities should review dangerous areas for repair, restoration, or even closure. However, she emphasizes that closing the entire area is not the solution.
A security guard at Zone 9 Cooperative Society reveals, 'In these heartbreaking days, witnessing the entire incident from the fire to the casualties and the young people organizing fundraising nights to help the families of the deceased, I truly understand the depth of the emotions that the youth have for this place.'
Responding to Thanh Nien newspaper, a leader in Hai Ba Trung district states that there are approximately 20 registered businesses in the area, primarily engaged in clothing, beverages, food, and entertainment.
'All households have business licenses, and there are no violations. While the bars affected by the fire are private residences sealed for the police investigation, they have the right to resume normal operations,' says the official.
