The world's richest billionaire admits he doesn't have time to level up his character, but still wants people to see him as 'a god of the gaming world.'
In a private chat with streamer NikoWrex, Elon Musk confessed to paying someone else to play games for him, a suspicion that had long lingered within the gaming community. Musk had previously stirred controversy by livestreaming his gameplay of Path of Exile 2 and Diablo IV, but his account showed signs of leveling up through external help.
When NikoWrex directly asked Musk if he hires someone to play games for him and buy in-game resources, Musk candidly replied: "100%. But when I post a video or stream gameplay, it's all me playing. This is necessary because there’s no way to beat Asian gamers unless you do it; they also hire people to help!"

Elon Musk has long claimed to be a top-tier gamer, a persona that is clearly reflected in his image and personal brand. While using accounts leveled up by others in Diablo and PoE 2 isn’t new, it remains a controversial topic. Reaching maximum character levels requires hundreds of hours of gameplay, leading gamers to wonder how Musk finds time for this while meeting with President Trump and managing multiple companies.
Furthermore, during a livestream of his PoE 2 gameplay, many viewers noticed that the billionaire seemed unfamiliar with basic gaming terms, struggled with swift actions, and lacked knowledge of item values, which quickly led the community to suspect that someone else had been leveling up his account for him.
Nevertheless, Musk insists that he never claims credit for leveling up his character. He told NikoWrex that winning the race to level up in these games requires multiple people playing on the same account.

Famous gamer Asmongold had earlier criticized Musk for paying someone to level up his account. However, Musk responded by unfollowing Asmongold on X, revoking his blue check, and publicly sharing private messages without consent. Musk told NikoWrex that Asmongold couldn't control his own destiny, as he had to ask others for permission before streaming on X.
At the end of their conversation, Musk said he might consider allowing Asmongold to livestream a SpaceX rocket launch event, "but he must acknowledge that I am the living god of the gaming world," followed by a laughing emoji.
Despite the backlash, Musk ultimately admitted to hiring someone to level up his character, confirming long-standing suspicions within the gaming community about his unusual gaming habits. The incident highlights that even the most famous and wealthy individuals aren't hesitant to use 'virtual doping' to enhance their performance in games.
