Xiaomi tablets could soon be capable of running Windows games, marking the start of a new era for mobile gaming.
The company has begun allowing Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4 owners to sign up for a trial of WinPlay, a new tool integrated into HyperOS that lets users play Windows games without needing an internet connection. This is not a typical game streaming service, but an innovative solution that offers a true PC gaming experience on mobile devices.

Unlike cloud-based game streaming services that rely on a stable internet connection, Xiaomi has taken it a step further with WinPlay. This tool allows tablets to run Windows software directly. Xiaomi claims that GPU performance when using WinPlay only drops by 2.9%, an impressive figure. Additionally, the company even demonstrated running Steam on the tablet, granting access to Valve’s massive game library.
However, it’s important to note that installing Steam doesn’t mean all games will be playable, as not every title is supported. This is hardly surprising, as it’s not a traditional Windows laptop. Even Valve's SteamOS struggles with compatibility across its entire game library.

According to renowned leaker Digital Chat Station (via Fonearena), leaked images show the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4 running Windows games locally through WinPlay, with Xbox controller support. One of the games tested was Tomb Raider.
It is still unclear how Xiaomi plans to expand this technology, and whether it will be integrated into the company's smartphones. Stay tuned for the latest updates on this groundbreaking advancement in mobile gaming.
